Drop Shadow/ Outer Glow
The Trail: Tutorials >> >> Drop Shadow/ Outer Glow
Programs Used: GIMP Tags: outer glow, drop shadow, effect, images, layers, brushes ![]() First add all your brushes on a new layer, any color you want, and any type of brushes you would like to add. Then duplicate that layer. ![]() On the bottom copy go to Color >> Colorize. Leave all setting except for Lightness, set to -100. The bottom copy will now be black. Then go to Filter > Blur >> Gausian and set to whatever you want. For this tutorial, it is set to 5.0 If you just want your brushes to have a outer glow, you are done. If you want to create a drop shadow effect, continue on =D
![]() Using the move tool, move the bottom copy until you like the shadow position. I moved mine 3px left and 3px down. For added style, you can set the shadow layer to overlay or fade it to about 50% (what ever opacity suites you) |
